Stereo Views of Vacation Road Trip

On vacations I’m the official photographer. My wife is use to me photographing everything, from the texture of the ground to the smallest detail. This vacation I planned to deviate from my usual shot list. I’m a big fan of 3-d. Love the old stereo views from the late 1800 and early 20th century. It was the way people use to see the world before the internet, and TV. To achieve the 3d effect I purchased a Loreo Stereo Lens for my Nikon d7100.

Don’t plan to being inconspicuous when shooting with this lens on your camera. The expression on most people’s faces will be WTF!  The subject matter on this trip was perfect. The old south, from Atlanta to Alabama, Through New Orleans, Up to Natchez Mississippi, Then on to Tupelo. Finishing up in Tennessee with Memphis and Nashville. Lots of places I had never seen.

Stack of handmade stereo views I made for a gift to my Sister-in -law. Who doesn’t want custom stereo views?

I especially liked the Joseph Stone House Bed and Breakfast in Natchez, Mississippi. Great history and hospitality. I took some 3D photos from the exterior. The house was built in 1850 so it looked like something right off of an old stereo view.

I have a little bit of work to do before I get them just as I want. Next version I going to Print in the card stock with our letterpress, then hand mount the photos. This should make the stereo view cards fit more the era.
